Questions about financial coaching

What is money coaching?

Money coaching helps you understand your financial situation, work out what matters to you and make confident decisions about what to do next. It combines practical financial education with coaching, so the focus is not just on the numbers, but on your goals, choices and habits. I don’t sell financial products or manage investments.

How is money coaching different from financial advice?

A financial adviser will recommend specific regulated financial products and investments. As a money coach and educator, I don’t recommend products. Instead, I help you understand your finances and options, ask the right questions and make your own informed decisions. If you need regulated financial advice, I’ll make that clear.

Can you help me work out whether I can afford to retire or work less?

Yes. This is a common reason people come to me. We can look at what you have, what you spend, the income you might have in future and, importantly, what you want the next stage of life to look like. I can help you understand the financial choices and trade-offs involved, although I don’t provide regulated financial advice.

What kinds of transitions can you help with?

Many clients come to me when something is changing — for example, retirement, redundancy, changing career, reducing their hours, receiving an inheritance or simply reaching a point where they want to rethink work and money. Often financial and work questions are closely connected, so we can work on both rather than treating them separately.
